When you apply to a job and they don't call you, did you just got ghosted?
Once upon a time I was heavily involved in recruiting new people for the team I was working in, checking resumes and interviewing, finding qualified applicants.
I was young ~ I always wanted to let the applicant know that they are not hired. I go out of the way to let them know this. 3 people 5 people doesn't matter. Then comes to a point that it becomes so inefficient that my laziness kicked in and just "ghost" them.
I realized that there's a parallel to that as the habit of ghosting which is often attributed to millenials. Maybe there's a connection between that "don't call us we'll call you" heard on that job interview and the hope that that orbiter you don't wish to see again get the hint of your disinterest and not contact you again.
Or maybe ghosting is a reflection of the privilegeness of the generation and not able to accept "no" not accepting that the attraction is not mutual. Or maybe it is a product of the ease of communication that it's so easy to know if someone is ghosting you because the effort of communication now, is very low and it's often free. Compared to previous generation ghosting might just be lost of contact which probably occurs much more often and not suspicious.
