Contradiction between darwinsm and believing that religion harms society
On this current covid19 global pandemic, some people find it timely to criticize religion and even God on his apparent inaction or how religion has not helped on society while the secular sections, scientists and doctors are doing the work. And I just realized one contradiction that I realized that Darwinist and claiming that religion harms or slows down society.
For people who don't know what Darwinist means, they are people that believe in Darwin's theory of evolution. The ideas include that if a trait is advantageous to the specie, then that trait will be passed on to the next generation because they have more chance of surviving and reproducing. I myself believe this might be true because of the biological evidence and similarities of anatomy of animals and human.
So inline with that - saying that religion harms society and believing in evolution is contradicting, because seeing that most people can't live without believing on a higher being means that the gene/trait that gives the people tendency to believe in God is passed on from generations to generations, unless of course that their argument is is that most atheist people in the past have been killed without reproducing which is a fair argument but it have to be backed by evidence as well.
My conclusion is that people should think critically and see the flaws in their argument instead of flailing around waving their beliefs blindly without seeing the contradiction on their argument. I think the worse kind of atheism is one born of hate where they just hate God, believers or religion that their argument becomes weak and fragile because it's built on the foundation of hate.
