Fumbling for meaning amidst a global pandemic
Tens of thousands has died so far and amidst of information and misinformation lies a motive uniform among humans - finding meaning of events. After all, God or the Universe won't kill off thousands of people, keep people inside, crashing the economy just for the luls, right?
Although searching for meaning is so unique and so remarkable among humans, and arguably the great contributor of our civilization; It can also lead us blind to false hope and false meaning.
Some people say "it's earth's way to clean itself" pointing out that the skies are clearer and pollution was decreased. Well that's a fair point. But if humans are not lighting up bulbs and lamps, I could see more stars in the night (light pollution), but does the quarantine solve that?
What irks me most is people are connecting this to the healing of ozone layer, which was healing since the banning of CFCs on the year 1987, I'm not gonna pretend that I'm a meteorologist, but I've known the ozone was healing for quite sometime now with random Youtube vid (therefore the knowledge should have been common by now)
My point is there could be meaning behind all this, or there could be not. Even if you believe in God, the book of Job pretty much tackles that some things could happen for no reason. And the book of Ecclesiastes nails it with everything you do can mean nothing. There is a chance that, thousand of people are dying, just because of a random mutation of a virus that we happen to have no immunity from, and is highly contagious, have delayed symptoms. And maybe there's no meaning behind it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
