Job Interviews Popping Out of Nowhere
Recently again, companies are calling me for job opportunities. I am not actively looking for a new job but I update my resume regularly, hoping Google would see it and hire me*. Yep, I am lucky** enough to have companies call me instead of having to apply to them online. I am entertaining there calls to see if it's it's something I could get interested of and if I could pass there standards. Obviously though, most of them find me rather overpriced or under-experienced, of course they don't tell this directly, but that's what they make me feel.
MVC Experience: Skill They All Look ForThe thing I've noticed about it is they are all looking for a skill I don't have: MVC framework experience! Zend specifically. Which makes me really curious about it. However, as I see it, it's a paid library. I really wish I can learn this from a seminar or something to boost my skills up. Cause I've being skeptic trying it. As I was writing my post, I already started trying out CodeIgniter, one of the popular(if not the most) free MVC framework. I actually liked it, at first glance. Not that I don't like it now, but it will take months of developing before I actually judge it. I will make a "tools" website that will offer tools that makes life easier. At least for me, cause those tools I will use myself. Something like string encrypt`er, url encoder, request header getter, all the nerdy stuffs obviously. But anyway, you're probably nerd cause you're reading this post*.
Finally a Job OfferWhile this post was resting on the drafts, I had a job offer recently from a big company, with nice technologies. This was counter offered by my current company so I decided to stay. I really thank the Lord for such a nice blessing and for people that blesses me. The awkward thing about this is, I am on my way on a job interview when I got the offer, and I was 30 minutes late! As if it's not enough, my phone's battery is drained. So I can't reply the HR girl that is asking me where I am. So I was there, 30 minutes late, took the test and had the interview and on the end I had to say the awkward news. How awkward is that? :| That experience kinda remind me of one of the Facebook posts of Casting Crown:
